I have the latest update to DW 2017 that I updated a day or two ago. Here are my settings. I am getting an error saying that an unknown error in discovering dynamically related files and need help in fixing this. Also, I would like help in why this happened and what I can do in the future to prevent it from happening again.

Here's my settings for the local server:

Testing:

- Name: WAMP

- Address: C:/wamp64/www

- Connection: Local/Network

- Remote/testing: Testing

> Basic:

- Server Name: Testing Server

- Connect Using: Local/Network

- Server Folder: C:\wamp64\www

- Web URL: http://localhost/

> Advanced:

- Testing Server - Server Model: PHP MySQL

PHP version: 5.6.25

Apache version: 2.4.23

MySQL version: 5.7.14

All help would be greatly appreciated!

Do I need to save it in my site root or just a regular save?

In my experience, .htaccess is something you need on the remote server but not necessarily on the local site.   I just rename it from the Files panel so I have it if I need it.

Ok, I do. I'll try that and see if works.

Yes. I do have a green light on Wamp.

Some of my sites do that, too when the includes contain includes.  For some reason, DW can't detect more than one level of dependent files so it throws the error about "dynamically related files can't be discovered...."

That said, if you can work with the code in your physical files (more accurately, your Child Theme files) & Preview in localhost, you should be OK.

I finally figured out how to reset the preferences and I did reset the preferences and restarted my computer, but it is still unable to discover the dynamically related files for some reason with an unknown error.

Is your testing server running?

Have you got a green light on Wamp, Apache & PHP are all running?

Nevermind. I found out how to reset the preferences.

Thank you for the suggestions so far. I tried to discover the dynamically related files again, but still the same error.

Thanks so much for responding so quickly Nancy.

I just restarted my computer and nothing changed. I tried to search Adobe help and Google to find out how to reset preferences in DW CC 2017, but everything I tried, I couldn't seem to reset the preferences. I even looked at all of my preference sections but showed no option to reset the preferences.

I forgot to mention that I am using the newest version of WordPress and it doesn't have a default permalink structure. Instead, it has a plain permalink structure: http://localhost/?=123

I don't know why a CC update would effect your testing server or the files on it.
