DW 2018 GIT completely broke

Very disappointed to see GIT not working correctly in DW 2018 for sites that have more than a few files...

If your site is very small, it seems to work fine. When you open a larger site, you cannot stage or commit files. Even sites with a few hundred files - you're outta luck.

Adobe says it's a "performance problem" here:

Known issues in Dreamweaver 2018 releases

But I don't think it's a performance problem....If I select all files to be staged, it NEVER changes status. the commit button never lights up....no matter how long I wait...

Really makes me wonder what kind of testing Adobe does before they release updates. Hey Adobe, you can hire me for QA and avoid issues like this.

Here we go again...waiting for another update with bug fixes....

that is true that GIT is somehow strangely behave... I wrote an article about it and have to let it aside for now for the same sort of purpose... I will investigate... but you should probably welcome to join the alpha forum, to directly exchange with the team... don't you think ?

Thanks for the reply - I'm not sure what the alpha forum is...to be honest, I don't want to be part of testing alpha/beta stage software. When it's released to the public it should work and be fully tested and functional. This is why software development companies have QA (Quality Assurance) testing - or perhaps in Adobe's case, they should.

Sorry if I seem negative on Adobe. I really do like DW. But every version seems to be plagued with bugs. You pay subscriptions and expect the product to be tested - fully tested. Sure, every once in a while something sneaks through - but in Adobe's case, at least with DW, there is almost always major bugs in their released product. Rant over.

Even though i fully agree with you, and my personal experiance of the pre-release is only negative, (I will no longer take part). The problem with testing is that it can only be done in a limited way, as there are simply too many diferent types of computer set-ups, and different user requirerments for any company to test for every possibility.

Even if you only join the pre-release and test how you want git to work, provide some feedback, and then leave. No more will be expected of you, but it would be one more user testing a feature.

Many members of the pre-release, (and other software development forums) are not actual web developers, and they along with the Dw dev team, do not fully understand every type of users requirements, only there own. Which is why Dw appears to be getting it wrong so often now. The more feedback they have, maybe the better Dw will become to matching users requirerments, and living up to their expectations.
