DW hangs Loading Database Schema for Bindings Panel

I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden all my sites that connect to a SQL Server database have caused DW to hang. Everything was working correctly, Now when I open a page with a Recordset on it, it says "File Activity: Loading Database Schema..." for about 60 seconds before I can do anything.  Then, the page displays and I see the Recordset in the Bindings Panel.  Under the Database Panel, I can double click on my Connection and press Test, which returns a Successful Connection.  The problem is when I try to expand the Recordset in the Bindings panel, or click on the Server Behaviors Panel both of which bring up the "File Activity: Loading Database Schema..."  box and locks up the program again for another minute.  If I double click the Recordset it will show the Record set code and even get the records from the database with the Test button.  But I can not see the Recordset fields to bind them to the page.

This is SO frustrating.  I checked with my host and they do not know what could possibly be wrong.  I have multiple domains with Databases on different servers and this is happening across the board.  Also, It is now happening across 4 different computers, one with a brand new Trial install of DW (clean with no extensions).

I did get one DataSources Error message from the Bindings panel:

A server timeout has occured . Here are the possible reasons.
1. Please make sure that the web server is up and running.
2. Please verify that the ODBC DSN exists on the testing server.

The host said it may be my network connection?  Any ideas?

I am at a standstill with my work until I figure this out.

Also, I am able to connect to my database though Microsoft Access (Access Data Project) and open the database, create tables.. all works fine.

So, I tested this on 2 Macs & 2 PCs, one with a fresh trial download from Adobe and found the same issue. After speaking with my hosting company I came to find out that my IP address had been Blacklisted by their SRX Database Security Software.  Apparently the method that DW uses to connect to the database for the Bindings panel triggered a flag in their system and I was block as a possible Intrusion.

The Solution was to Whitelist my IP address on their software, which fixed my connection issue immediately.  The only downside is that if and when my IP address changes again, I may have the same problem again.  So, keep this in mind if this happens to you.

So to recap: The problem occurs at first when opening a page with a Recordset, or when clicking on the Recordset Arrow (to show the fields), DW hangs for 60 seconds with FTP Activity Dialog box that says "Loading Database Schema...".  After which point the fields do not show in the Bindings panel.  Yet, you can still View the Database Panel, Check the Database Connection (works OK) and create a Recordset & even test the Recordset (which shows the retrieved fields).  This problem makes binding recordset fields to the page impossible.

If this happens, check with your host to see if their security software has Blacklisted your IP as a possible intrusion.

Ryanide,

Did "whitelisting your ip" permanently solve your "loading database schema" issues longterm? If not, how long did the solution work? I have the same issues, and had to switch servers once before. After I switched servers, everything worked great on the new server (i'm guessing since i hadn't been blacklisted yet on the new server, a process that probably takes months to a year).

I have the same issue with another server now, and I was wondering if "whitelisting your ip" helped. I do not want to move servers again - major pain.

Thanks.

As far as I know all is working fine. I don't know about long term since this happened just last week for the first time. I did not have to switch servers, only have my IP whitelisted (OK'd) by the Hosting company's Database security software (something called SRX).  They also told me it is possible to temporarily turn off the security software protection on my domain, although they don't recommend it.

Might try talking to technical support at your hosting company and see if someone is knows about this issue. My host is Crystaltech.com and they are great. Been with them for over 10 years!
