Hi,

I use Dreamweaver 8.0.2 (no jokes please 😉 ) on Win10.

Since yesterday I have the following problem:

- I start DW

- the little windos shows what is loading ... at the end it shows: "Inilialisiere Farbdaten für Code..." (engl.: "Initialize color data for code...")

And then ... closes immediatly 😞

I tried to re-install / repair DW8, but the problem still exists.

What can I do?

Thanks!!!

Uwe

Code colors are stored in Preferences.  By the looks of things, your Preferences file may be corrupted.  Restore Preferences as described below. NOTE: to find the file, you must SHOW  hidden files/folders from your Windows File Expolorer.

I'm glad it worked for you as a temporary fix. But keep in mind that Dreamweaver 8 is very old and should be replaced with newer software.

I don't think Dreamweaver 8 can be activated anymore.  It's too old.   CS1, CS2, CS3 and CS4 activation servers are dead.  Adobe took those aged out servers offline quite a while ago.

Try using a modern code editor instead.

Dreamweaver 8 is not supported on Windows 10 and recent updates could have broken your installation. Your only option may be to run a virtual machine using Windows 2000/XP and see if you can get the old version of DW working in that.  Otherwise, it may be worth upgrading or looking to an alternative solution for web development.
