EDIT: Everyone misunderstood what I was asking; but your answers suggest this was not the ideal place to ask in the first place. My mistake, I found my answer elsewhere. (I'd delete the thread if I could.)

I defy you to find two devices that display colors exactly the same way without them being calibrated to exactly the same specifications. Even then that's a very tall order because high-pixel density devices are better than low-pixel density ones.

If you want greater consistency on the web, don't use raster images.  Instead, use SVG and CSS colors.

Good question @B i r n o u , But this will not help an end user because they will not know about the settings.

Aside from that, I have two monitors of different makes. Each monitor shows a different set of colours. I am therefore wondering, why this obsession about colour settings?

The best solution is to keep images untagged. Most browsers assume sRGB and it will stop confusion for browsers that don't.

Not sure why this is a Dreamweaver question.
