Export data to excel

Hi Guys,

I am looking to see if anyone knows how I can create a script to export data out of our database to an excel/xml/text format.

I need to take a data dump out of the system which will then be appended to our offline database. The process can be either a manual file export to the server for FTP download or download via browser.

I also have a need to upload a file to add and update information on the website.

If anyone has any suggestions, links to FAQ's or anything on this I would bve most grateful
