Question

Extensions, Extension Manager, 2015, 2017 ARGH!

I am running around in circles trying to do what I think should be a fairly simple thing... I want to add an extension to DW 2017.

Do I use the extension manager or not? I've tried using it and when installing the extension, get a message that it conflicts with an already installed extension (of the same name). I stop, go check Dreamweaver, Windows Extensions menu, and nothing is there. I'm completely confused and feeling stupid, which I don't do very well.

Can someone please help me?

Nancy appears to have forgotten that we also have an extension manager:

PVII Extension Manager for Adobe Creative Cloud

It works for all CC applications, including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and InDesign.

Adobe dropped support for its EM in an effort to promote its App Store and extract profit from extension developers, which has been a failure... in the opinion of most people outside Adobe. There is no programmatic reason or excuse for dropping support as the underlying code that powers the old extension manager still exists.

Tried this; while I can see the various extensions in this app, they don't install in the intended CC application (Dreamweaver 2017 in this case). I am going to try uninstalling DW and reinstalling. It certainly seems like spending $600 a year for applications that are tempremental is an increasingly losing proposition.

I couldn't get PVII's EM to work for me in DW 2017 although it worked great with CC 2015.  So I downloaded the latest EM from DMX Zone and it worked in DW 2017.

So try them both before you resort to reinstalling DW.

Adobe no longer makes an Extension Manager that works with the latest  DW.

That burden has been picked up by the various Extension developers.  If your extension does not come with it's own EM, download the free Extension Manager from DMX Zone below.  It works in 2015 and 2017.
