Hello.  I get this message below when I am building my website.  It used to work ok.

Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation.  the following application on your computer or network

G:\Web Design Work\Dorset Guided Tours\Website files\scripts\expressInstall.swf

is trying to communicate with this internet-enabled location:

  1. fpdownload.macromedia.com

to let this application communicate with the internet, click settings.  you must restart the application after changing your settings.

can you please help?  I don't know what to do once I have clicked settings.

Thank you

I am getting the same problem.  I'm a teacher and have students working on a course which although doesn't mandate Flash, we've used it as that's what we've taught them through school.

(Nancy it's an old course and we're doing HTML5 from now on).

either click on the settings button and add expressinstall.swf to your trusted files list or, if you do not want the flash player to automatically check for updates, disable them: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager05.html

Best advice, remove the SWF code from your page and go happily on your way.

Flash content is pretty much dead these days because modern mobile & tablet devices don't support it.  You would be much better off replacing your Flash stuff with more widely supported jQuery or HTML5 video.

Thanks Nancy.  The problem I have is that I am doing a web design course and we have to demonstrate that we can use Flash!

Teaching you to use Flash media is kind of disappointing.  jQuery or HTML5 media is what you should be learning.

Anyway, go to View > Live View > Disable JavaScript.  You'll need to do this every time you use Live View.
