Frequent Crashes in DW 2021 Open in Design Mode Instead of Live?

Okay, So I am using the latest version of DW and I think it has a memory leak problem or something. I am experience frequent crashes about after 1 hour of use. Then when I restart DW, all the links in the menu systems are taking up to 30 seconds to respond to a click. For example, it isn't willing to shift from Live split view to Design view and Live view seems to be default.

I'm on Mac Pro 2013 OS 12.3, but was also happening with earlier versions of Monterey.

Is there a way to default to open in design mode instead of live?

Is there a way to default to open in design mode instead of live?

DW remembers the last mode used.

To illustrate, open a document. Toggle from Design to Live with Ctrl + Shift + F11.
Save document Ctrl/Cmd + S.
Close document tab.
Go to File > Open Recent > select #1 file.

What is your result?

Crashes are not normal. DW is stable for me on Win 10. Did you try Restore Preferences?

Also very important, is your site defined with a local site folder residing on your primary hard drive? Problems can occur when the site folder resides on externals, networked or cloud drives like DropBox...

I have reset preferences. IT is a pain, but had to do it 2 times to recover DW over the past month. Biggest issue is is wipes out my extensions, which is the ONLY reason I use DW over Coda or Pinegrow.

I don't know why having my site on a local external drive is an issue. I have used DW for 20 years and that never used to be a problem. As you know with SSD drives, space is at a premium. I only have 300 gigs free on a 1 T internal drive and if I clutter it up with my home folder and music and my extensive websites, I would probably crash that drive. This external is connected via thunderbolt to the tower.
