Question

FTP Blocked by Local Firewall Error

Hi,

I'm having an issue with Dreamweaver where when I try to connect my site to an FTP server I get the following error: "An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. User limit reached or not authorized to make the connection due to local firewall blocking FTP data."

I've seen a lot of other people on this forum with the same problem, but no repeatable solutions. Is this just a problem with Dreamweaver now?

I am working with Dreamweaver version 21.3, on Windows 11 (Version 22H2, OS Build 22621.1848).

If connecting with FileZilla doesn't work, contact your hosting provider.  They may have reset your password or permission settings without telling you.

Does this work with an FTP client other than DW (filezilla https://filezilla-project.org/, cyberduck https://cyberduck.io/ ...) ?

Do you have a firewall set up and authorized DW to use the necessary ports (20, 21, 22, 2122, 989, 990, in short, the one you've defined on your server) ?
