FTP error-cannot make conn to host, user limit reached, local firewall blocking FTP data

I tried to make a connection to my site this morning and it won't connect. It was working yesterday, but this morning I get this message:

An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. User limit reached or not authorized to make the connection due to local firewall blocking FTP data.

There have been no changes made to my site or password from the last time I logged in, which was yesterday.

Now I cannot even get it connect.

Have you contacted your hosting company to ensure nothing has been changed on their end?

I can't count the number of times users of a certain hosting company (with an affinity for neon green and female NASCAR drivers) have come to the forum, with similar stories about not being able to connect to their site, only to find out their credentials were lost or settings were changed during a server update.

Very hard to know what is going on. One thing that we can be certain about is that something has changed between yesterday and this morning.
