FTP no longer works in DW CC

The FTP connect to my websites no longer works. CC just started asking for access into the confidential passwords via Keychain. Why? I do the drill and get said password to the specific website and enter in into DW. NADA. The link to the server continues to be dropped. I check settings, go to godaddy, change pw, all the other parameters defining the site connect are fine. Try to connect NADA!. What's going on here? What I do now is build the page in DW and do the FTP via, in this case, GD as DW is useless. This just started today. Again, why is this happening? Nothing is changed on system. Everything else works ok. DW CC is up to date so what am I missing here? I am a very experienced web designer and have used DW on Mac and Windows prior to Adobe buying the app so pilot error is not the issue here. Any help on this would be terrific as I am pretty sure this is a real bug that needs to be fixed NOW.

The keychain access request also happened to me after this last DW update - on both of my MACs. On one, I also could not connect to any of the saved FTPs because all of the usernames/passwords were deleted. The same thing is probably happening to you. Just go to the "manage sites" and edit the FTP server. You will see that the username and password will be blank. You have to input it again.

Question. Did you change your keychain password recently? I did change mine and I'm wondering if that's related to this problem.

I'm sure many MAC users are having the same issue. THERE was a major update in DW. Before it was DW CC 2017.5 and now is DW CC 2018. In fact, who knows if this is the reason as the keychain was allowing the APP named DW CC 2017 and not DW CC 2018.

To avoid this happening in the future, go to your keychains, select login, in the search type "siteserver". Double click on your site's name, click on access control and then select allow all applications to access this item. This will allow Dreamweaver to always access it even if they change the APP name again.

it's well known, that in all these cases you describe I'm not a friend of a detailed troubleshooting. To be able to be independent in all this things it is one of the reasons why I prefer an external FTP program. The difficulties with which you have to fight encourage me in this opinion, not least because we always search for experts, we don't charge a "jack of all trades".

To manage several websites or to upload my files and sometimes for the opposite way, for a necessary download from my server or to use a "a site-wide synch", I'm using FileZilla. It simply looks easier for me to keep track of all operations precisely and generate or reflect easily the desired tree structure.

Above all, FileZilla has a feature (translation from my German FileZilla) called "compare file list". Here it's possible to use file size or modification time as a criterion. There is also the possibility to "hide identical files", so that only these files which you want to redact remain visible.

And even if it means you have to install a new program, I am convinced that there is an advantage. Here is the link to get it and where you can read informations about how it works:

Of course, you also need all the access data to reach your server and for MIME issues, you should contact your web host/provider.
