FTP problem in GoLive (crazy but still using it)

This is a message with a slim problem of being solved. I have NOT yet ported my website to DreamWeaver!

BUT.. I recently had to change the password on my FTP account, and now GoLive can no longer connect to the FTP Server.

It says "internal error". I have tried all variations of FTP, SFTP, PASSIVE etc..

Other Ftp apps like WinSCP and Filezilla can connect with the same user and password details.

ANYONE have any suggestions for me (other than updating to DreamWeaver)

..

==============

This isn't surprising, given GoLive's obsolete status.

Keep using free FileZilla to transfer files. It's updated regularly with latest file transfer protocols & security patches to ensure it conforms with modern web hosting requirements.

GoLive is deadware, abandoned by Adobe in 2006.  Nobody should be using obsolete web software in 2024-2025.  The web has changed too much.

These code editors are low to no-cost alternatives.

CODE EDITORS:
-- Codespaces (free, browser-based) - https://github.com/features/codespaces
-- Notepad++ (free) - https://notepad-plus-plus.org/
-- Nova (Mac only, formerly called Coda) - https://nova.app/
-- Pinegrow - https://pinegrow.com/
-- Sublime Text - http://www.sublimetext.com/
-- Visual Studio Code (free) - https://code.visualstudio.com/

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. I know it is old and not supported etc. BUT HTML still works, and because I have SO many webpages. looking on google, it seems to say I have 1082 indexed pages in my site. seems a bit high, but I do not look forward to porting it over to Wordpress and fixing the errors that I will get!

I'm an old programmer, using what has served me well, (GoLive !!!)

A Google index means absolutely nothing if the site receives no traffic or engagement from actual users.

Bots don't count.

It's fair to say that your site's not mobile-friendly, as that didn't exist in GoLive.

Google down lists sites that aren't mobile-friendly.

Eventually you must modernize or get out of web design.  WordPress would likely serve you much better than what you have now.  Something to consider for 2025.

There are no additional changes. FTP technology has just changed over time and the client will no longer work. As far as having Wordpress, your host likely has a PHP/MySQL setup which would allow you to host Wordpress or similar PHP technologies. Or you could always look into other hosted solutions such as Wix/Webflow/etc. which may be worth considering as an alternative.

What amazes me, is that the FTP  AND syncing has worked up to about 6 weeks ago.....

I'm not exactly sure when it stopped working, but it may be when I upgraded to a new Desktop

(Windows 11 vs Windows 10 as well!)

When I get a bit of time, I'll re hook up my old Desktop and see if FTP in GoLive works on that.

and I guess what I am wondering, is if there are any settings in GoLive that are NOT in the "Site / Setting / Publish Server" area that may affect how an FTP connects!

my provider has "Wordpress".

I may do that, but I do have 250+ pages. it will take a while!

and in the mean time, I can use WinSCP for my FTP, but have to remember which folder to sync!

GoLive is even older than DW and there is no guarantee that DW would be able to connect either as it has been in minimal maintenance for some time only receiving critical updates. I would recommend at this point to consider looking for an alternative editor to meet the requirements of your workflow.
