Get and Put Buttons

A couple of major version back the get and put buttons used to sit on the top tool bar within easy reach. Then they got moved inside a File Management fly-out menu. I see with version 2017 this is still the case. Is there a way to have these buttons sitting on the top toolbar next to the view setting buttons for example? It's a real pain having to do the extra action of clicking on the file management icon first then clicking on the get or put when it used to be a single click.

Cheers.

It's not something I require as I have used the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+U) for years.  But please feel free to submit a feature request.  If enough people feel as you do, it might get added to a future release.

Thank you BenP, I understand. However, the removal of the in-document Put icon represents a severe inconvenience. With the Put icons where they were, it was a Save then a Put-click while working in a doc. With that icon removed, the hands have to move from the mouse to the keyboard to use the keyboard shortcut. Barring that, to use the File Panel icon, it is a save, then a whole maneuver to get to the file in the Files panel, then click-Put.

What am I missing? I feel strongly this version in this area and others have significantly downgraded usability. I am open to being wrong on this point.

You could use the keyboard for both these actions.

Edit the shortcut for Put to something that only requires your left hand, like Ctrl+Shift+Q, and use Ctrl+S for saving.

This should be faster than using the mouse.

I use the mouse as little as possible, and don't even have the standard toolbar visible.

This is not helpful. Please put the icons back.

If you do not wish to use the keyboard shortcut, you can always use the buttons in the Files panel.
