Question

getting a section of the body text of one page to populate to others across different domains

i need help in getting a section of the body text of one page (index.html) from one domain's folder to populate to the specific body section of multiple domain's pages (index.html). i know this can be accomplished via css, but every youtube video i search does not address this specific problem, only how to use css as style templates. what i need to happen is every time i update the particular section of the index.html of thedocfactory.com that lists the films and thumbnails or production status of the list of films (over 56 so far) i need to have it update the same list of films on each films individual page. please don't suggest copying and pasting, as i said there are at least 56 other sites that must have that particular section updated each time a new film, preview thumbnail, or status changes, and there are new films added constantly.

all i need is a generic instruction of how the text section of one page can populate multiple pages by linking to it in dw. then i can link all pages once to look at these changes and update their page's section of text.

if you need to see what i'm talking about, just go to http://thedocfactory.com and you will see the list of films. each film listed has its own webpage and usually a "coming soon" followed by a section that lists all the other films in the documentary factory universe. some don't have that section, or much at all as i haven't found a way to make this easy yet, and those that do were populated using copy/paste.

i would also be open to converting the entire documentary factory site to a wordpress that could make this a lot easier if anyone has a suggestion to a wp template that can make life easier for the old man 🙂

Not possible with CSS (cascading style sheets).  Sorry.

Without more details, it's hard to make specific recommendations.

At a minimum, you need a dynamic solution and some coding skills.

SSI: Assuming all pages are under your control, on the same web host, a server-side-include can do this.

WEB SHARE API:  If you're sharing data with various HTTPS domains, you could use a Web Share API.

Hope that helps.

You're right—CSS alone won't do the trick since it primarily handles styling rather than content management. What you need is a way to dynamically pull content from a single source and display it across multiple pages.

What you need is a centralised database containing the information, Wappler and an extension that I wrote for Wappler. The method is as shown here.

All you need to do is place the custom component to each website and maintain the videos using the database.

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!
