Google News tags [locked]

I have a news website that was originally created in Adobe GoLive and has had a Google News site rating since 2003.  There have been a few iterations, but it's time to totally reconstruct the tempates.

There are quite a fw tags for the basic items that the Google News panel would prefer to see for the latest "Tranparency" guidelines that changed in June 2021. I've yet to see an adequate template that works with both Google News and Dreamweaver. I don't want to use any WordPress solution.

thanks

    Hi @Teledyol,

A Dreamweaver Template.dwt is a proprietary file used by Dreamweaver to help you manage your site.  You don't have to use a Template.  But if you're married to this notion, you'll need to create the template yourself to suit your particular needs including whatever special codes Google requires.

Start your dummy page with the usual suspects.

    • A responsive CSS & HTML5 layout.
    • Sitewide header, footer & navigation elements.
    • Empty regions for page specific content.
    • Empty optional regions for content that may or may not appear on all pages like ads or promotional content, etc...
    • Valid code that works in all browsers and mobile devices.

About 80% of your development time will go into creating this.  When you're totally satisfied with your dummy page, go to File > Save as Template.  DW will prompt you to add Template Editable Regions or Optional Regions for content that changes from page to page.  Do this and save.  Close your Template.dwt

CREATE A NEW CHILD PAGE BASED ON TEMPLATE:

Go to File > New > Site Templates.  Select a site and a template.dwt file.  Hit the Create button.

Immediately save your newly created child page.

    Repeat for other site pages.

NOTE:  Templates are fine for small - medium sized websites, up to approx 50 pages.  Beyond that, you will need a more robust solution with server-side databases, dynamic scripts and a backend CMS to manage your data.  WordPress is one example of a database driven site but certainly not the only one.

    Nancy,

    You're still at it…

It seems as if you're always ( for many years) trying to discourage use of the Dreamweaver platform to get anything done. I remember your dissembling from years ago, when the transition to responsive layout was happening.

I pointed out that my news site had a Google News rating from 2003. There's over 5000 pages of content on the site. Over 50% of the platforms that access it are from mobile phones. I was asking for help from someone who had specific recommendations on implementing the Google News tags within a DREAMWEAVER template. This is an "Adobe Support" community. The answers should be relevant to getting Adobe Dreamweaver operative for the user asking the question.

One could determine that I was way over that 50 page threshold by noting that the site is over 18 years old. The gerneralized information you provide is of little help. If you really have knowledge about a CMS solution that is set up to optimize the Google News tags, I would love to hear about that. To get a remedial capacity to actually provide a relevant answer to that topic, you can beging to familiarize yourself with their guidance: Google News Publisher Center

Most CRM reccommendations try to steer one to WordPress solutions. THAT is "OK" for that 50 page beginner. I already stated that I really don't want to hear about Word Press. I'm still interested tin that if anyone has seen a responsive DW template for Google News implementation.

I think that the problem stems from the fact that @Nancy OShea and you are talking about two different templates. Where Nancy talks about the Dreamweaver templating system, you are talking about custom templates.

That does not infer that I agree with your what you have written above. You may have noticed that Nancy was the only one brave enough to reply to your very specialised subject.

Enough said. Getting back to your orignal post, what is the question? I only see statements which require no answer.

Please elaborate, preferably with an accompanying link to the site.
