If, as stated, the nails are firmly hammered down on Dreaweaver's coffin lid, what app does Adobe's own staff use?

Dreamweaver's demise is one of the most sad SW deaths I've witnessed. It seems anything Adobe acquires, save InDesign, they eventually kill off.
But what bothers me the most, about this particular application, it doesn't appear they're offering a product to transition to. Is a decent IDE that hard to make?

I suspect they use Visual Studio.   Maybe someone will reconstitute Homesite.

==========

It's being minimally maintained for the benefit of older users.  No new features have been added since Fall of 2020 (ver 21.x) except security & compatibility updates.

My bad.  I thought it was still in active development.  If someone could come up with a replacement for Photoshop I could get off this train.

It's not discontinued, but they announced in an offshoot meeting at Max in 2020 that no new features are being planned. Going forward it's in  Minimum Development Status.

Basically, it's being kept on life support so the current userbase can get their affairs in order.

One day, they'll pull the plug, but Adobe hasn't let anyone know what the deciding factor might be to trigger that announcement.

In all but name you could say. Since a few years ago it does not receive any additional updates to what currently is available. It's now only minimally maintained to iron out some bugs and OS updates. It's rapidly fallen behind since active development was down graded.

Don't view it as the go to web development tool just because its from Adobe, which some may do, if they have insufficient background knowledge. You may want to explore different options if youre planning to be in development for the long run.

Have a look at this discussion from 6 years ago

Yet Adobe are still charging you for this scrap heap.

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!

Off topic, l've recently been digesting the JonL post in the Wappler forum, now removed, he's obviously not a happy bunny anymore with the way things were going.

JonL here.

Just created an account here because someone close to Wappler team asked me politely to reply this.

Wappler is to Dreamweaver what a car to a horse.

Also, I am not a happy bunny indeed. The reason for that is because the great majority of users come from Dreamweaver and they are a bunch of selfish r*tards holding the product back. It's a shame because Wappler team could hit gold if they grew some adult balls.

I only know a handful of ex-DWs that have actually embraced Wappler as what it could be and constantly recicle themselves by learning every single day.

One of them would be Mr Ben Pleysier.

Anyway. Bye. Hope you never step a foot on Wappler community and refuse to switch from php. Go download wordpress.
