Hi Madison,
Now everyone is back at work I have been able to talk with one of our database engineers, who has worked with the jive forum software. He has explained to me how this would have happened, and stated that 'fixing the problem' will depend on the database back-up schedule, and archiving of such, (I probably know more than most on this now
).
Briefly, he has said that posting in any discussion that I have participated in, that now has posts missing, should not affect restoring any deleted posts, or points, (back-ups permitting). Can you confirm this, or would you prefer that I still refrain from posting in such discussions until this is resolved?
Thanks
Paula
Hi again Paula, thanks for providing these examples- this helped the Jive engineer investigate the issue further. It appears our deactivate action kicked off a Jive delete action without our knowledge or it was done as a mistake click on our end- they can't tell which it is. So there were in fact pieces of content deleted. And I'm afraid I have to be the bearer of even worse news- we cannot restore this content as it was already removed from the database (as you mentioned you were familiar with). I can't apologize enough for this. I have reminded all moderators to be extra careful when deactivating. We've also talked to Jive about getting better insight into who performed moderation activities (this was already on our wishlist, but this example has made it even more high priority).
Are there any particular threads you were hoping to restore? Jive has told me that we can try and find them on our staging environment and then at least copy/paste the content back onto our live site.
I've also removed your name from the spam reports thread.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can do. Look out for something in the mail- think you deserve an apology for having to go through this.
Best,
Madison
