Hello,

If I create a site in dreamweaver, can I host my site on adobe site (like Portfolio does) ?

Or does adobe plan to do it in the future ?

No.  Dreamweaver and Portfolio are totally separate things, and never the twain shall meet.

    • Portfolio is a CMS web building platform similar to Wix, Webflow or WordPress.
    • Dreamweaver is a code editor for creating web files in HTML, CSS & JavaScript among others.

You’ll need free or paid web hosting services from a commercial web host— GoDaddy, Hostgator, Bluehost, etc…

    Hope that helps.

You are talking of dynamic websites VS static websites. For people that use an ancient computer, I have noticed that sometime there is a compatibility problem between some ancient computers and some dynamic websites. At the difference of static website that are working well with ancient computers.

I doubt it. Adobe and Macromedia prior have had plenty of chances to do it. The web hosting world is much different than it was then with some opting for hosted solutions like Squarespace, Wix, etc. and others opting for a hosted solution for Wordpress, and others opting for the larger hosting providers like AWS or Azure. As the space is so crowded they are unlikely to enter at this point. But you are not losing any functionality due to this so there is nothing for you to worry about.

I was thinking that for people making some simple static web site with dreamweaver, Adobe could give us some space on their servers to put a site directly from dreamweaver to adobe servers.

I was taking example on Portfolio, but by example, Adobe Premiere is able to put the videos we make on it directly from the Premiere interface to Frame.io. So I was thinking to something similar with dreamweaver : we make a site and from the dreamweaver interface we publish the site directly on Adobe server (without additional cost).

Most website nowadays are not static. They are dynamic with server interactions. Adobe supporting that at this point in time is unlikely. There’s also costs involved for them to host the equipment, maintain it, and other risks involved like people uploading potentially malicious content. Unlike a service like Frame that restricts content to videos, web content is not limited to html could be comprised of images, videos, javascript, css, and other files. Ultimately it’s just not something that will happen based on where web development is going and the affordable cost of 3rd party hosting solutions.
