How do I filter metacharacters from user input?

Hi,

Ive made my website with DW CS3

I used the log in features built in and used  an extension from the downloads for a remember me cookie.

The pages work well but I just ran a vulnarability scanner on the site and the log in page with the cookies and some others have came up with alerts that they are unsafe.

I sort of assumed that because i was using the DW built in log in features that this would be not a problem but seems Ive missed something.

The program advises that I  filter metacharacters from user input.

Can anyone advise me how I do this .

Im using ASP & VBscript and would appreciate any support as im a little lost.
