How do I insert cursor into code?

Split view. I don't want to highlight the enclosing tags. I just want to insert the cursor and edit the code.

It had to do with the interface. I was using "classic" and it's almost impossible to see the cursor.

Make sure the bottom right of your document window shows INS (for insert) and not OVR (for overwrite) and you should be able to click and type like normal.
