How do I see the progress of the FTP transfer again, as it used to?

Not sure if this is an update cdhange, but I can no longer see how my FTP uploads are going.

It used to show a bar, with the names etc, but now merely shows the name & number of bytes uploaded, along with the total bytes of the file. I know that shoiuld be enough but I liked the old syatem where a bar showed the progress. Is it possible to get that back somehow?

DW is convenient for quick page updates but for large data transfers or multi-GB media files, I prefer to use a dedicated S/FTP client like free FileZilla or Transmit FTP by Panic.   You can do more with a dedicated client.

like Nancy you must have a super fast connection, because here the DW FTP client use and feel has remained the same since Macromedia... except for the connection mode, it has not evolved in ergonomics, in usability and in stability...

requests for improvement over the years have always been ignored... :

    • Impossibility to open multiple sessions at the same time
    • impossibility to switch to a different site project during a transfer
    • no action possible on the queue order
    • no information about the global time still needed
    • no synchronization of navigation between folders
    • no management of the recovery of files that triggered a transfer error
      ...

and it's not now that DW is in minimal maintenance, that there is a chance that the FTP client will evolve, one way or the other... if you don't have time to see a transfer bar... see it as luck... please, enjoy it 😉

    Possibly wise words Nacy.

I may give FileZilla a go instead now.

My Internet connection is so fast, ordinary HTML, CSS and JS files upload in mere seconds.  If I blink, I miss it. 🙂

Click the globe icon below your Files Panel to see Background File Activity.

You can check your FTP log to see what was uploaded.  Window > Results > FTP Log.

    Hope that helps.

    Nancy

I suffer froma fairly poor internet connection but have always had that bar, although it has been completed in your screenshot so there is no blue line, which is what I've lost.

In my screenshot (part of anyway) you'll see I have always used that same window, but it now lacks the bar.

On my Windows machine, there is no progress bar either.
