How do I set up my current Dreamweaver-managed website on a new PC computer?

I recently bought a new PC and have Windows 10. I backed up all my files from my old computer and downloaded them to my new computer. I installed Dreamweaver. However, I don't know how to get my local website files loaded onto Dreamweaver (or even where to find them.) so that I can update my website.  I have only a pretty basic knowledge of Dreamweaver for a pretty unsophisticated website (oamasters.com). Thank you for any help you can provide or for pointing me in the right direction. Janet

    Hi Jon,

Thank you for taking the time to respond so quickly! I really appreciate it.  I don't think I did a good job of giving you all the facts. I no longer have my old computer. But I backed up the files before I donated it and loaded them onto my new computer. When I open Dreamweaver on my new computer and go to Sites-Manage Sites there are no sites listed.

    Thank you!

    Ah, yep that changes things.

If you know where your copied files are located on your hard drive, you'll just have to Define a Site using the folder that the files have been copied into as the Local Site Folder...

    Define a site

Or, you could create a new blank website, then add your FTP credentials and use a Get (the down arrow in the Files window) operation to download your entire website from the remote server.

    1. Copy your site's local root folder to the new machine, note where the root folder is located (these are your site's files)

    2. From the older version of DW, go to Site > Manage Sites

    3. Click the site you want and choose Export to create a .ste file (this is your site's settings like FTP)

    4. Copy that .ste over to your new computer

    5. On the new machine, go to Site > Manage Sites > Import to bring in the .ste file

    6. Under Site > Manage Sites > click the site you're working on > Edit, verify the local root folder is pointing location from Step 1

Sorry, missed that you didn't know where your sites were located on the old machine, for Step 1 above...

To find your site's files on your old machine, look under Site > Manage Sites > click the site you want > Edit > under the Site tab will be the Site Name and Local Site Folder fields.

The location of all of your site files (your site's root folder) will be in the Local Site Folder field. Browse to that location and copy the entire folder (not just the contents) then move it onto your new machine.
