Question

How do you select what folder is displayed on the files panel?

How do you set it so that the files window displays a specific folder instead of every file. The screenshot I've attached shows that everything is rooted from my C: drive. I've tried changing the site at the top of it, but I'm just working out of a folder, and don't have a .ste file.  I've looked through the settings, as well as researching online, but I can not find an answer.

As others have stated the only way to solve your issue is to work within a site definition in DW.  While you might not be working on a single site, this is how DW keeps things organized. For instance, I do a lot of work in email with platforms like Marketo, but code many emails in DW first. So I have a folder that I use to develop emails and just work out of there. I don't have any servers defined, etc. so it's only purpose is just to help keep DW organized. Hope this helps.

After you define your site as directed by Ben and Jon, the Files panel should resemble this screenshot where MyTestSite is the name of my site definition  and C:\myTestSite is where it resides on the primary hard drive.

    1. Go to Site > New Site...
    2. Give the site a name
    3. Browse to the folder you want to use as the site root in the Local Site Folder field

    4. Save

You can go back at any time to set up FP info or testing servers later. The above steps will give you a dropdown menu in DW's Files window. Choose the site name you set in step 2 from that dropdown and that will become the active site in DW with all the contents of the folder you specified available to work with.
