How do you find out how much data is stored in your dream weaver program?

I want to buy a laptop 2-in-1 and copy my dream weaver program to the laptop. I do not know how many GB's will be used with all the data, photos, videos, etc I have within this program. How do I find this information?

There are two parts to your question

  1. dreamweaver
  2. sites

1. see Dreamweaver system requirements which will tell you that you must have at least 2 GB of disk space.

2. check the sites folder on your hard drive to see how much space is used.

Just to clarify one item, your sites aren't stored within Dreamweaver.

DW just manages the files in selected folders on your hard drive based on your settings, basically, whichever folders you set as the site root of your websites. The images, scripts and pages in those folders are not part of the DW program itself, so as Ben points out, you will be looking in multiple places to find how much space your sites each take up, which is separate from how much room the program itself requires.

Thank you for your feedback. I now understand that DW itself is only the band leader and all the folders/files are the band members. My issue is that I did not build my site from scratch, I only add to it over time. So the inner workings are foreign to me, I'm not a major computer individual.

When I open DW, to the right under local files has "site - MDL (E:\website). Under this, has all the folders that store the building blocks of my website. Folder MDLMYJOURNEY has all the folders that contain images, script and pages that I make to add to my website.

If I right click on these folders, I do not see anything that I can open that would tell me how much data I'm storing. If I go to the root drive "E", it says 1 TB used. But this is my backup drive and is used for other storage beside DW.

I would appreciate some additional guidance.

As to the first question, this is what I'm looking at for a laptop:

HP Envy 15.6", quad-core, 8 GB ram, 256 GB SSD, i5 or i7 processor. My issue here is storage, TBD move up to a 1 TB storage ($$$).

When you right click on a folder, click in 'Properties' to bring up the file space used.

I would be very surprised if your site even totals 1Gb of file space use, unless it is a comercial site, or you have not optimised any images for web use.
