HTML Special Characters in design view

Is there a setting I can change so that my HTML code doesnt display funky if I have a special character? I want dreamweaver to not pay attention to the special characters in my view  when I copy and past code in dreamweaver. It distorts my text in the design view. I didnt have this issue a couple weeks ago. Is this a feature I have to get used to?

Thanks for those suggestions! I didnt have the correct character set in my HTML and when I added it..problem was solved! Thank you!
