I am a beginner in web design and I just uploaded my first site. I was wondering how I would make changes to it going foward? Do I modify offline and just swap files or is there another way?

Assuming you built a static HTML site and uploaded it to a commercial web host, you must edit pages offline, save and replace remote files with local ones.

Also refresh your browser's cache (Ctrl + R or Ctrl + F5) to ensure you're seeing the new content.

Based on general web design practices, there are a few ways to update a website:

    1. Offline Editing & File Swapping – You can modify your website files on your local computer and then upload the updated versions to your hosting server via FTP or a file manager.
    2. Content Management Systems (CMS) – If your site is built using a CMS like WordPress, you can make changes directly through an online dashboard without needing to swap files manually.
    3. Version Control & Staging Sites – Some developers use version control systems like Git or set up a staging site to test changes before deploying them live.

How did you upload files the first time?

FileZilla is the free S/FTP client that's recommended by most web hosts.
