I've set up the *&*%$ testing server - now can I please add a recordset?

I run into this problem occasionally with DW. I set up an asp site using aspVBscript. When I go to add server behaviors the application box has the first two item s ticked (Create a site for this file, and Choose a document type) but the third, "Set up the site's testing server" is not, yet I have set up the testing server (several times). It is the same testing server settings I use on several of my other sites and they are fine. Why could DW be insisting I have not set this up? I've tried closing down the app and restarting, but it still thinks I have not entered the testing server settings for the site and so won't let me add server behaviors.

Anybody have any ideas why this is happening and what I could do to fix?

BTW i'm using Dreamweaver CS3 on a windows XP pro SP2 machine. Windows 2003 IIS 6.0 server is where the site resides.

The word "testing" in this case really means a testing server for Dreamweaver, not for the developer. Dreamweaver needs access to a functionining application server to enable some features like browsable tables in the Databases panel or selectable columns in the Recordset dialog. Dw is actually pinging the testing server to generate that information.

I'm begining to developing a dynamic application in DW, and my problem is also - how to set up the site's testing server. I've set up all required data, but testing server is not set up.
My application server is ColdFusion.
I have no idea what went wrong!
Explanation from Charles Nadeau is not enough for my understanding of the process where 3. Set up the site's testing server is obligational.
Can anyone explain to me what should I do to set up testing server?

The problem is now resolved. Once the site started loading (I presume once DNS had caught up with the changes) DW then let me continue.

Does it seems strange to anyone else that I can't begin developing a site until the testing server is ready. Where I come from development comes before testing and it seems very controlling to insist on having a working 'testing' server before you can even begin.

Oh well. on with the development.

I've put a testing html file in the sites root directory and tried to load it. Got a 404. I only set the DNS record up about an hour ago. Perhaps the DNS caches need clearing? Does DW have to resolve the address before it can accept the testing server settings? I know they are correct, is it just that DW does not know this yet (and won't take my word for it?)
