Import folder, html and photo from old webpage on my desktop (folder w older site) to the new site

Hi. I used to have a webpage on golive. Some years ago I deleted one whole folder in it with underpages. And some other files.
It screwed up the page a bit, loosing some files etc. The golive went out of business, and my page I didnt think I could fix it anymore.
Then I just recently understood I could downlaod the site to dreamweaver. Not so different. And was very happy! ( I had created a new page in wordpress in between. Though I still link to some pages on the old one.)

Now I also found the original webpage in an external harddisk, so I can introduce and fix some of what was lost once.

I want to reintroduce the old folder and some other html. and photos laying in a folder on my desktop (with the whole old site) .
I tried to follow an instruction video on youtube. But my dreamweaver doesnt seem to accept loading up, though I can choose my desktop on files.

the arrows disappear for loading up, when I choose a remote computer and connect to remote.

Can anyone help me with this?

How to add html, folders and pictures in general from my desktop into dreamweaver? I cant find answers.

First, as old as that site is from GoLive, I would worry less about fixing what you have and focus more on finding a new template and moving over your old content into that.  The old design is likely not responsive, could contain code errors based on your description and overall cause you more trouble to work with then it's worth.

With regards to downloading your site, you first need to define a site ( https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/how-to/define-a-dreamweaver-site.html ).  Once that is done it will download to your HDD wherever you set that up.  If the files are on your desktop and you don't want them there, then as with any other file on your computer simply drag/drop, copy/paste, etc. the files to where you want them to be then define your site in DW to match that setup.

Hi Ben

Thank you for your response!

I made/ defined a new site on dreamweaver and imported my site that I still have in a webhotel into it.
And have done some necessary work from there on things that needed attention, so it looks ok enough.

Though I still would like to add the folder with pages html that I now again have access to as webdata in the old page in a folder on
my desktop into the new site.
Do you mean or think I can drag and drop directly from my old folder with the old site on my desktop to the new folder with the new site on my desktop

manually? And then upload them from there. Put the old folder under the main folder of my site and upload?

It differs a bit from the golive, that seemed easier to work with from me sight, though probably not.so I have learn more of the basics on dreamweaver, though it seems to operate. I thought though for now that I could take some easy steps /way out to fix some missing links, photos and this one folder with

a section of my old page back in place.

I had like 6 different "departements" on my old page, and I took one out, that I would like back.

I do understand that it can be the wisest to rebuild somehow a new page, though the old is so loaded with info / pictures and pages

so it would be a lot of work i imagine. This will in any ways so far not be my main page, that now my wordpress page is.

Thank you in any way for responding, I will try to fathom / think about what this means to find a new template and define the site from it.

Maybe I could create a page just for the folder I want to add. (though it has many subpages)

In my question i already explaimed that golive is closed a long time ago. And that I have already successfully downloaded and edited all my existing files to dreamweaver. You still miss the point. And my question. So i hope ti hear from someone that reads what i ask for and are intersted in helping. Good luck with your wordpress Pages.

I chose today to subscribe again to Lynda.com (Now linked to linkedin,  in-learning) that I thoroughly built my first website with in golive. And I quickly found the answers I needed there on my Dreamweaver questions.  A very recommendable source for any kind of challenges with Adobe related questions or other instant issues on webpages. Very detailed and presise help.  So I consider my questions solved.
