Question

Importing Keyboard shortcuts from .html - file

Hi!

I have been using Dreamweaver for many years, through many versions.

At a time I created a keyboard shortcut menu, and exported it to html (as I was instructed to by DW).

How do I import this file to my current Dreamweaver version?

(CC Version 21.1)

Thanks

michael

If you are using the same computer and still have the old files you may be able to migrate your shortcuts even if they were not saved to the cloud.  On the Mac it is in the library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver {version}/{language}/Configuration/Menus folder.  Look for a menus.xml file. In windows this is likely in a user folder on your machine /App Data or /Application Data --> Roaming folder in place of the Application Support on Mac.  If you have the old XML, it may work to overwrite. But if new functions exist in the new version that have keyboard shortcuts they may not work depending on how old your shortcuts are that you are overwriting with.

The export to html command is for creating a print-friendly reference card for the current shortcuts. It also allows you to manually go through and make changes to the KBSCs in a new version.

There is no import button for bringing the html shorcuts file back into another version of DW.

To get your shortcuts from one version of Creative Cloud to the next (with some limitations) you can use DW's cloud-sync function (gear with arrows icon in upper right of program window): https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/synchronizing-dreamweaver-settings-creative-cloud.html
