Hello, I would like to restrict my website only for the United States. Is there any code or meta tag that would restrict my website to be found only in the U.S.? Thanks!

    Thanks, that helped a lot. In fact, I've found some meta tags that I have in my website that I should DEF get rid.


    Don't forget though that no matter what you do using scripted and/or meta tags, the site can still be accessed by someone outside the USA if they wish to do so. Netflix and Amazon prime are just examples of services that are constantly trying to find ways to restrict their services to specific countries.

    Restricting access is will be an ongoing task, and not a one time solution.

    Not just using meta tags, no.

    It is possible to script a restricted user location, but to do this you would have to look up the users ip address and compare it with a list of known ip's that are known to be in the USA. However it is not even 70% reliable anymore, as your local internet provider does not have to have servers that are exclusively in the USA.

    There is also the problem that due to multiple ways a request to view your site can be routed, someone outside or even in the USA could be denied access, or not.

    Then there is the question of where your hosting provider is located, as even this can be anywhere in north america, europe, or anywhere that is allowed to host sites from the USA, (to put it another way, your host may not even be in the USA).

    Hi, thanks for responding. I've spoken to my hosting provider and they told me that there are ways to restrict my website, not just using meta tags, true, but other methods. I already know those other methods but I do want the meta tag script, thanks.
