Question

Make DW 2017 Real-time Preview configurable

I would suggest to have additional option in Site Setup, where user can select if he want to use defined remote server, test server or DW Real-Time Preview. If nothing is selected, just open current file in the browser.

In addition, it would be great to have ability to define a shortcuts for the different options.

They did claim to update the functionality of Live View

"Dreamweaver is now integrated with a new version of Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF). With the new CEF, Live View now renders pages designed using CSS Grid layouts. Also, you can view a better CSS grid layout with this change. "

for Real Time Preview

you can now just check this box (and restart dreamweaver) and get  the old upload and open link in browser....

Since Live Preview doesn't handle many modern CSS very well, why not just vote to get rid of Live Preview?

You're getting Real Time Preview and Live View mixed up again.

Real Time Preview uses whichever actual browsers the user has installed on their machine, outside of DW.

Live View is the built-in preview mode that, up until the most recent version, couldn't handle things like CSS Grid or Flex properties.

This needs to happen. I suggest something like a pair of radio buttons under a heading...

Page Preview Method:
     O - Live Preview

     O - Open in Browser

...and which ever button is selected, that's the preview method that opens your pages on hitting F12.
