Microdata Blues

Hi all. So i've decided to give microdata a try. I added the following code to the main text area.

<div itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/LocalBusiness">Call:<span itemprop="telephone"><a href="tel:+17707020270">770-702-0270</a></span></div>

The telephone link does work but somehow it messed up the structure of the paragraph.
