Question

My site doesn't download to Dreamweaver like it used to

I have always successfully and easily downloaded my whole site to Dreamweaver (from its Godaddy host) whenever I have a new computer. The procedure is very simple. This time with the latest versionj of DW before doing anything there was a warning message from Adobe that my site may not sync properly?? On downloading I downloaded lots of new files that were never downloaded before which seem to have little to do with my site. Also after several hous and Dreamweaver bugging several times I have still not been able to download my whole site., just 50% of it

What has changed? and what can I do to download my site correctly.  I still have my site on another computer but if I update Dreamweaver will this give rise to new problems

Thanks

Nothing much has changed in Dreamweaver since late 2020.

  1. Are you saving files to a folder on your computer's primary hard drive?
  2. Maybe your Internet connection is timing out.
  3. Or perhaps something changed on the hosting server.

Try downloading site files with free FileZilla S/FTP client. Click the GREEN Download Button below.

https://filezilla-project.org/download.php

If FileZilla times out, the connection problem is with your Internet or server.

When you go to download, can you click on Site --> Advanced --> FTP log and let us know what it says when it disconnects? The fact that you are getting to 50% suggests that the connection is good, but something on the host end is preventing the site from being completely downloaded. To that end, after you download half of the site, if you try to download the remainder (not the entire site again) what happens?

Thanks for you reply. The FTP log doesn't say anything particular when it disconnects. It downloads about 150 files at a time in about 12 min. Still 1200 files to download.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
