My uploads don't show on the web

For many years I happily used DW 11.5 until I could no longer update my system on my iMac. Now I have a new iMac running Big Sur, and the latest version of Dreanweaver. iPower is my host. When I upload pages all seems to go well except I don't see the changes I've made on the web. If I use my outdated version of DW on my outdated iMac I can upload normally and then see the changes on the web. My skills are limited. I am a painter and show my art work with Dreamweaver. Chatting with iPower hasn't been much help. Do you have a suggestion? Thank you.

    1. You will need to delete the duplicate folder and its contents from your remote server.

    2. Move your local site files out of the duplicate public_html folder and up to the actual root which should be your computer's hard drive.

Expand your Files Panel to compare Remote with Local.

    Hi @Vincent16B6,

Most likely, you're uploading to the wrong directory on your server.  The server's root directory varies by webhost and hosting plan.  If unsure, contact your hosting provider.

Similarly, DO NOT allow the root folder's name to appear in your local site folder.  If it does, then you're doubling up with an unnecessary sub-folder which has the same deleterious effect as what you describe.

Finally, after uploading files to server, be sure to refresh your browser's cache with F5 or Ctrl/Cmd + R.  Or use a different browser.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi @Vincent16B6 ,

Thanks for writing to us. Please see if the site's server root directory is same on both machines. PFB the screenshot for setting the root directory.

    Steps:

    1. Invoke 'Manage Sites' dialog.

    2. Select the required Site and click on 'Edit the currently selected site' button.

    3. Switch to 'Servers' tab.

    4. Select the required server and click on 'Edit existing Server' button.

    5. Please confirm if the root directory is same on both the machines.

Please let us know if the above resolves the issue else we can have a remote connect session(details sent in a private message) at convenient time to you for debugging the issue on your machine and try fixing the same.

    Have a pleasant day!

    Regards,

    Nayan
