If I am using a testing server that is remote to my local system (peer lan),
would I install MySql on the development system or the testing server system
when I want to use a data driven page?

I was able to turn off all SQL and PHP services on my other machine.

I have the local folder set to a network drive
I have the testing folder set to my IP/folder
I have the remote info as remote (ie, non local)
I have the testing url setup to retrieve on the other machine.

It looks like it works fine. I don't think it should change anything really
if you were editing locally instead of remote, but I can try that if you
want me to. I don't often hit "live" view or f12 to preview, but instead
save a page and refresh it.

Let me know if you want me to do a quick trial where I copy over some of the
fiels to the local machine, but it looks to me like you should have clear
sailing.

lemme check. I"m guessing you mean from within Dreamweaver, and I think the
answer is yes, but it might require you to edit a file. it's been a long
time since i did that (6-7 months) but i can do a quick test locally.

Hmm - that makes sense. I think. Is there no way I can access the database
on the remote system?

Both, I think. I think you'll need it locally to build your recordsets, and
remote to build the page.

Can't confirm that, but that's how I set a machine up in the office Tuesday.
I want to say w/o the local, it wouldn't build the recordsets.
