New Find and Replace won't replace extra spaces.

I frequently have text from email and other sources that are chock full of lots of extra spaces, usually in groups of 12.  I want to clean up my code, so I do a find and replace, copy the 12 spaces, and replace with one. I have been doing this since Macromedia days. Now I can't. I get an error that says:

"One of the text search fields is blank. Enter the text you want to find."   well.... duh! The text is spaces.

I noticed a setting button that I never noticed to the left of the search field, when it drops down, there is a selection that says "ignore white space", it is checked. I uncheck it. Then tell it to Replace all, I get an error that says: "One of the text search fields is blank. Enter the text you want to find."  No, DW is supposed to ignore white space. I open that option box and it is reselected.

This seems like a very buggy change. What is up with this? Is there a workaround?

Thanks,

    Hi,

Also, in the meanwhile you can use the Advanced Find and Replace dialog to replace multiple blank spaces with a single blank space.

You can invoke the dialog by Ctrl+Shift+F or from the menu: File->Find and Replace in Files, select "Current document" in Find in dropdown and do the same operation as you were trying to do from the Quick Search Bar.

    Hi Kirkdickinson,

Thank you for reporting this issue.

We will definitely take this concern into picture. Currently Replace All is not working for spaces.

You can try the following workaround:

Get the focus to the line number where you have multiple spaces. Select the spaces and invoke Ctrl+H(find and replace bar).

Give some thing in replace textbox and click on Replace. It will replace that particular selection with the replaced text one at a time.

Please allow us some time to get Replace All in working condition.

This is my paragraph before with the space selected

This is my paragraph after a search and replace

Ben, Not helpful. You may not have the same build as I have.

Apparently this is in fact not working, and confirmed by Mahak Kudyar below.

Could be that I did use a different version. Just checked 2017.1 build 9573.
