Not Responding error message

While working in Dreamweaver I continually get a message at the top of the screen "Not Responding" -- after a few seconds it responds and I can work, then it happens again. This causes the tempo of my work to be interrupted over and over, it is annoying.

Is there any fix? The only articles I see about this in a search are from 2012.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I ended up with Dreamweaver Tech support uninstalling/reinstalling Dreamweaver and it works good now. They were able to login to my machine and do the work while I watched. 5-Stars on that support.

Does your local site folder reside on your primary hard drive and not a networked or cloud drive like Dropbox, etc...?

Turn off energy saving Sleep Mode from your operating system's settings.  Sleep mode is nothing but trouble.

If you have the most recent version, roll back to the previosu version.

    Other things you can do:

disable site cache in site settings

if you're using GIT make sure you don't have a lot of staged files it kills perfomance for some reason

stay away from live view unless it's essential to your workflow
