We are more than one year later and no response from Adobe. How sad.

This might be helpful - someone has updated the code coloring themes for DW CC 2018, which reflect more of those used in 2015:

Dreamweaver CC 2018 / light and dark themes

I've not tried these so I dont know if they work.

Just in case it helps, see Learn how you can customize the colors of your code elements in Dreamweaver.  to enable code coloring in DW CC 2017.

Thanks,

This is OK Preran but as you know now, the code colouring is limited and not a full Brackets integration. For JS and PHP developers it's not possible to set language specific colours which is a massive failing.

Please post a vote here so we can hopefully get full flexibility back for code colouring:

Restore Full Code Colouring Flexibility – Adobe Dreamweaver CC: Feature Ideas

The code colouring apart from being removed from the options because it's a half finished Brackets integration lacks serious flexibility, no language specific option even if you are prepared to edit the LESS theme file directly has been included.

I had an official response from Adobe that language-specific code colouring which is a feature in Brackets, is NOT included in the brackets integration with Dreamweaver.

It's not possible for me to reply to every post containing this discussion, but rest assured that the product team is investigating the possibility of reintroducing this feature in a future update.

What really causes me grief is the syntax coloring for php! I used to be able to customize it but now, all php code is in all white!

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!

We have heard of this from other users as well, and have referred it to the product team for their observations.

If this feature is critical to your purpose, use the previous version of Dreamweaver until there is a solution that works for you in a future  update.

I cannot stress this enough, as well. The new syntax highlighting is inferior and does not allow enough contrast to the previous version. I would be happy to even have a configurable file to edit the keywords and colors as long as it is possible to revert the change in some way.

But how does one install the previous version of Dreamweaver? It is not an option anywhere that I can find in my Creative Cloud account.

You can get old versions through the CC Desktop App, here are the instructions: Download and install Creative Cloud apps
