Once again Syncing with the cloud DOES NOTHING

Yesterday Dreamweaver worked perfectly. All my keyboard shortcuts worked, my workspaces worked for two monitors... you get the picture.

 

Today - a new version of Dreamweaver 2021...

Offering to sync with the settings in the cloud...

 

As usualy IT JUST DOES NOTHING. All my settings are lost AGAIN.

 

Surely there must be a better way of doing this. If Photoshop Illustrator and InDesign can keep all my settings why doens't Dreamweaver?

 

I have clicked on Sync with the cloud endlessley and restarted all to no avail.

 

Any ideas?

    I can confirm this is a bug.  I filed an official bug report on Uservoice below.

    After several kludgy attempts in Preferences Panel and restarting DW each time, I was eventually able to import my synced Site Definition Settings and Custom Snippets from the Cloud but never received my custom Workspaces. 

     

    My workaround on Win10 (v 2004) is to manually copy workspace files from old version to new version.

     

    C:\Users [name] > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Dreamweaver [ver] > [language] > Configuration > Workspace.

    Hi Nancy,

     

    Thanks for writing to us. Can you please confirm if you had synced custom workspace settings successfully to cloud with Dw 20.2 before trying to download the settings in 21.0.

     

    You can also try to Import settings from previous Dw versions by following below steps:

    1. Open Preferences dialog --> Sync Settings category
    2. Check Import Sync Settings checkbox
    3. Restart Dw
    4. Click on Apply in Sync toast pop-up (wheel icon on top-right of Dw)

     

    Also, custom workspaces and keyboard shortcuts will sync only with same OS version and not cross-platform (Mac-Win). Hence please confirm if you had successfully synced the settings on the same OS platform with earlier Dw version.

    Also, since the issue is with sync settings on your machine, can you please let us know if you can join us for a remote connect session(details sent via email) to investigate and resolve the issue on your machine.

    Hy Nayan,

    In the end I used a backup I had on my MacBook which has resolved the problem of losing keyboard shortcuts and my Workspaces.

     

    I am hoping by next time the Dreamweaver team will have perfected keeping and automatically installing the existing settings.

    Hi Colin,

     

    Thanks for reverting on this. Good to know you were able to resolve the issue via backup. Please let us know if we can investigate it further via remote session to understand the root-cause of the issue since the issue looks machine specific and not happening internally.

     

    In general, please have the settings uploaded to Cloud regularly so that you will have latest settings in Cloud for retrieving/downloading in next Dw updates.

    Hi

     

    Thanks for reporting. Could you please try below steps and let us know if your issue is resolved:

     

    1) Quit all Adobe applications
    2) Sign-out from Creative cloud desktop app and
    3) Sign-in again with your adobe id
    4) Launch Dw and check for sync settings.

     

    Please let us know if the above steps doesn't work for you, we can further investigate the issue.

    Did do the following?

    1. Install the upgrade from Creative Cloud desktop app and then restart computer?

    2. Import Synced Settings from the Cloud, Apply Update, Close and then restart DW?

    Also make sure your importing settings with a new install of Dreamweaver 👍

    You can save components from your configuration folder for future use if sync doesn't work, for example the snippets folder and then when you have a new install of Dreamweaver you can copy the snippets folder over and restore all your snippets.

     

    I would try a clean install of Dreamwever, completely remove all versions of Dreamweaver and reboot before reinstalling, you could use the Cleaner Tool to make sure all version of DW have been removed.

     

    You could also try loggin out of the Creative Cloud app then launch Dreamweaver, you should be prompted to login, see if that restores your ability to sync settings.
