OT: Paypal takes money twice?

I'm being told by one of my clients who uses Paypal that it sometimes takes the payment twice. I guess anything is possible but has anyone else come across that situation before?

Its difficult to find an answer to the problem as the client says it happens randomly and not for every transaction. Plus I'm highly skeptcal of anything a client tells me because they are usually in a panic and get it all wrong.

I suspect its some kind of user sillyness going on or indeed is a Paypal glitch. The Paypal gatway is outside of the website environment so its out of my control when it reaches that far in the process.

All I do know is over the past few weeks/months Paypal has been messing around updating all of its checkout pages with a new look so its conceiveable that they have altered something somewhere unwittingly.

Cheers

Os.

It's either Paypal, or Mr. Impatient ViewerGuy is repeatedly clicking the button when the page doesn't load fast enough, or the ever-present third option, "black magic voodoo".

Without a lot more info, that's pretty much all you've got to give them.

Yeah, I dont know but I have now come up with another viable theory.

Paypal probably is not a good fit for this particular customer as Paypal is more about 'fixed' item prices whereas I've had to use a lot of special Paypal variables/php to arrive at a Price because there are different levels of pricing for the same item - coach seats.

All seemed to work quite well before Paypal upgraded their checkout styling and for whatever reason decided to hide most of the important information about what you had purchased.

The old Paypal checkout quite clearly showed you had purchased X amount of seats at varying prices BUT Paypal grouped these seats as 'quantity' 1 NOT 3 or 4 seats etc which would have tripled/quadrupled the price. Now I think due to some users NOT being able to see the purchasing information clearly, without clicking the silly little 'more' button, I think they are updating the 'quanity' box and doubling or tripling the price lol. Although they should be able to se this as the overall price then uddates instantly which should be a clue BUT for some I guess they just get confused.

What i need to do ideally is 'lock' the 'quanity' field which of course Paypal has no option to let you do. So my only other option is to have an inbuilt cart and just throw the final total/details over to Paypal - which of course the client probably doesnt want to pay for.

    Lifes sweet.

How comes we have the phantom 'mark answer correct' idiot doing the rounds marking answers as correct when quite clearly they are just comments?
