Page Jump -auto/ hide Help Please!

Question

I used PVII layout designer on my site to center page. I get
the ugly page jump on load. I read to use hide/ show layers to
correct this but I cannot figure out how to use it . Can't get it
to work. Can someone step me through this? I'm a real newbie and
know very little code. Thanks in advance for your help!
