PHP includes is not showing when I first open the php file

When I first open a php file, it shows the entire page is "Design" view. However, the php includes to not display, instead it shows a little tab that says "php."

When I cut and paste that tag, suddenly all the php includes show up. This happens every single time I open a local php web page.

How do I make it show up immediately all the time?

Do you have a local testing server installed on your machine to parse PHP scripts -- i.e Xampp, Wamp or Mamp server?

Is the server launched & running properly?

When you preview your localhost in a browser, do you see the PHP includes?

You need to be working in live view to see PHP code executed. This is because PHP needs a server to execute the code.
