Although version 5.6 is touted as an option, it is best to ignore this option.

Wappler is the DMXzone-made Dreamweaver replacement and includes the best of their powerful extensions, as well as much more!

That just means it just wont 'validate' any new features in version 8? It doesnt mean you can't use any new version 8 features in Dreamweaver though.

The only other editor I know that's currently up to speed with supporting version 8 is Php Storm - well that is the best editor to use if you're a php junkie, by far, there's is no better.

If you just 'dabble' in php then anything will probably do.

Dreamweaver doesnt use any specific version of php, it's just an editor. Dreamweaver once had a 'server behaviours' option which you could use to connect to a database and query the database but it was removed some time back as that only supported up to php version 5.6 which is way out of date and should not be used going forward.

You can manually code any version of php in Dreamweaver - as I said, its just an editor. There are a couple of paid for 3rd party extensions  for Dreamweaver which can help you connect to a database and query it, they deploy versions of the php workflow which are considered current and safe to use.

What is it you want to do, we might be able to provide some better advice?
