Problem with broken links panel.

Hi people, I'm new to Dreamweaver and am having a real problem with the broken links panel. I go into 'site' then 'site options' then click 'check links sitewide'. The 'broken links' panel appears and shows me my broken links. I click on the later part of a broken link and the folder icon appears and then....this is where the trouble happens.... I click on the folder icon and the 'select file' panel appears. However if I click anywhere on this panel, it just disappears from the screen, This driving me crazy.

Just to be clear, if you defined your site properly before you began your project, you should not need The Link Checker.  Site link paths are managed for you by Dreamweaver.  The Link Checker cannot help you track down bad links in absolute or external URLs like https://example.com because those are not within your local site folder.

Hardly the most helpful of answers and not neccesarily true. If you download  snippets and want to customise their appearance and functionality (eg, bootstrap 'Navigation' panel and convert to 'nav-custom') you break some of the js and css links that need to be reconnected later. Also you're not always dealing with your own work, you're sharing work, and you can hardly be responsible for their good housekeeping.

    Hi @rodenthead ,

Thanks for writing to us. We see that 'Link Checker' panel switches behind the app or any opened panels on clicking on any 'Link Checker' panel items. As a work-around to have the panel open/visible all the time, can you please try docking the Link Checker panel to the bottom of the Dw app frame so that the panel is not dismissed on clicking on any items.

We can have the panel docked to the bottom by dragging the panel towards the bottom of the frame and hovering till the blue line appears. Please let us know if this resolves the issue else we will further debug the same.

    Have a pleasant day!

Thanks Nayan. I think that this might have been the problem, in retrospect. I resolved the issue by uninstalling DW and downloading another version from Creative Cloud. 'Links' panel appeared, when needed and did its job! If it happens again, I will remember to do what you suggested.
