It is 2022 and I also have this problem with the latest DW since my upgrade early this year. It is so maddening...

Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + F11 to toggle between Live & Design view.

Ctrl/Cmd + Alt + H to Hide Live View Displays.

You resurrected a very old topic from 2016. DW has been completely rebuilt since then. I have moved your post to a new topic.

Which version of Dreamweaver? The latest release came out in June 2022, version 21.3.

Does this happen with all local sites & files or just certain ones?
Do your local site folders reside on your primary hard drive?

I'm really sick of this bug being ignored in any Adobe Dreamweaver "Updates" (hardly any.. ever) I have had this issue for years with no fix. If you are going to sunset Dreamweaver, then sunset it.. I'll move on

That's basically what they're doing.

Adobe announced a few years back that DW will no longer be in active development, but a minmum maintenance status. Basically they're only planning to update third party libraries (this has been particularly slow), security issues, and OS compatibility problems.

There are no other bug fixes or new features planned going forward.

Basically, they're keeping the program on life support for current users, with no clues as to if/when they plan to pull the plug.
