Re: Takes forever to sync files to server? [Branched to new topic]

I have the same issue, it started about a week ago! Some weeks ago, uploading sometimes got stuck, and I found that when I clicked cancel and started again, it worked fine, but not anymore. Trying to sync is completely useless because it takes too long. Uploading and downloading can still at times be done with some luck. I use a Mac laptop. Never had any problems before. I work on three websites only, for two or three hours a day. I tried going back to an earlier version of DW, but that didn't help.

I would really love things to go back to normal again as this is really frustrating!

Hi, thanks everyone for the kind advice and for thinking along with me. I tried toggling the passive FTP several weeks ago already when the problems started, and it helped a little but not much. This morning I tried connecting through SFTP but that didn't work. This afternoon I contacted my server provider, they checked everything but couldn't find any problems whatsoever, they said they could connect to my FTP fine; however, they did advise me to change my cPanel password, and tadaa, not even five minutes later I could synchronise, upload and download without any problems. It feels quite incredible, but if it works, it works eh. Let's hope it stays this way now!

Thanks again for all the help, it's really nice to feel supported in this way.

@Marie5FDC

Maybe your hosting provider changed something on their end.  Did they update or upgrade your server lately?

Are you using their recommended S/FTP connection settings?

Did you try toggling Passive FTP on/off? See screenshot.

By the way, I'm the same person as Marie5FDC, I don't know why my user name changed.

If your problem only started recently, and going to previous versions did not help your issue may be related to your host. First I would try a standalone FTP program to see if you get the same results and if you do I would recommend you share your log with them and see if they can provide any insights into what may have happened.
