Remote Server view empty

I have set up an SFTP connection for 2 sites. (FTP does not work.) Site one works great - I can see files on remote server in Remote server view and can get and put files. Site 2 set up same way, but I cannot see the files on the remote server in the Remote server view. When I test the connection to the server, I get the "Dreamweaver connected to your Web server successfully." message. I have googled, but none of the things I found worked or actually dealt with SFTP. I am not a programmer or developer; I only do very basic things in html files. I am using DreamWeaver v 21.3, and according to my Creative Cloud account, it is up to date.

    I've been going back and forth with the server team for weeks on this, and they finally recognized that they changed some security settings that were blocking my account. All of my site settings were correct. And even though testing the connection showed a successful connection, that test doesn't authenticate whether your account has the right permissions. Once they updated my account's permissions to go with the new security settings the Remote server view list populated immediately!  Thanks everyone for your responses. I really appreciate them!

      Can you show us a screenshot of your Expanded files panel?  

      In this example, /public_html/ is my remote server's root directory.  Root varies by hosting plan.  If unsure, ask your host.

      Sounds to me like you might be missing the remote root directory in your site settings. Servers will often allow you to connect with your credentials to areas that FTP isn't allowed. Verify your settings for the root directory under...

      Site > Manage Sites > click the site you're working on > click Edit (pencil icon) > click the Servers side bar menu item > click your remote server > click Edit (pencil icon) > look under your SFTP settings at your Root Directory...

       

      Sometimes it can be empty, other times you'll need just a /, and yet other times a folder name like public_html, www, or htdocs has to be there. Every server is different, so verify your correct information with your hosting company.
