Safari v8 and 9 (Mac)

Should I be concerned about supporting Safari version 8/9?

Less than 1.0 users, according to browser stats.

I always have reservations about NOT supporting browsers that I have available on my machine, especially ones I cannot update which is the case for Safari. To update that I would need to update my OS and that's not going to happen.

My brain is telling me to drop support for 8/9 and move on?

v10 only has 2.9% users.

Os

Don't look at desktop Safari version, look at iOS as the version for iOS Safari is the same as the desktop version, (though not hi-dpi probably)

I'd say desktop version 8 is not worth supporting but version 9 still is for a year or so, also remember that updating iOS depends on the user having enough 'drive' space to do so, so they may use that version until upgrading their actual devices.

The only reason I bought an iPad and iPhone, (currently version 10 and 9 respectively) is that it was cheaper than buying a Mac for testing.

OK I think I might be having a senior moment as I don't often do thorough checks in Safari much, as I only have desktop v8.

I couldn't get Flexbox to work in v8 as it should do because it doesn't support the full spec correctly so you have to use some different options to get around a few problems it causes - those temporarily escaped my brain.

I guess it would be the same in desktop v9 and only desktop v10+ supports the full spec as it should do whilst over in iOS it looks like the full spec is supported from v9.2 onwards.
