Saving documents is intermittent..how to?

This has been going on for along time (several previous versions as well) and I finally want to get an answer or explaination. I work in split code view and work between the source code and css files, as well as have several html files open at once (in tabs). One display window. Before I preview or upload I hit SAVE ALL, to save all the various changes on any number of files I just made little changes to. Sometimes all save and other times some don't. The * stays next to the unsaved ones (as expected). After I upload, if I hadn't payed attention to what didn't save,  the preview or online test doesn't reflect changes to those files and this flakey behavior is driving me nuts. Why when I hit SAVE ALL it doesn't save ALL the files, html and CSS file changes...guaranteed.

To make sure, I have to go back and look for the *files and highlight that file, then save it with its tab live. It has always been flakey on what SAVE ALL saves, and usually not ALL. Is there a way to to this? What am I doing wrong.

Using: OS 10.12

DW: 2017.0.1

Thanks

The related file tabs are something of a misnomer.  They are not actual documents, more like ghost files.   If you want to ensure that your actual documents are being saved (File > SaveAll) then you should disable the related file tabs in your Preferences and work with the actual documents.   See screenshot.
